Need of Comprehensive Rehab for victims of forced labor, sex racket, drug & panhandle mafias in IND

Updated: Apr 1

Economic Transformation Council, along with fighting national and international human trafficking, now moves to provide Rehab for the Victims to make them walk into dignified life but never return to exploitation again.

Managing Director - Economic Transformation Council, Mr Mohamed Amjad Padiyath sets a division, of Comprehensive Rehabilitation Programme, nationally for the Victims of Human Traffickings in India and abroad. For safety considerations, the names of team members are confidential.

He added "Our rescue missions could be considered successful only if we could ensure the victims are all brought back to a normal life with peace and purposes. Almost all the victims who are rescued back to India from international grey markets, experiencing long abuses, always show Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and become more vulnerable when mixed with any uncomfortable social and family environment. The cases of victims within India are more terrible than international cases."

Governmental and Non-governmental agencies have a large stake of their expertise and resources mobilized to return the victims who are fallen prey to anti-social grey industries in India and overseas. The feeling of fulfilment in those officials, seeing the victims rescued; who takes all the risk and get into line of the fight only to return our fellow beings; is equal to the yogis who walk their life purposes. Six months to 2 years later, When those victims are seen to be returned voluntarily back to the same mafia line of activities, all those risks and efforts become meaningless. The question is why this happens?

Why would someone who craved to get out of the Human Trafficking mafia, volunteer to get exploited in the hands of some anti-social elements again?

Even though the categorisations of such people are at multiple levels, yet that includes 'The people who find it hard to fit into the normal society, again'. Once a person is victimized by an antisocial event, then even after their rescue and they are brought back to normal life, the society has a tendency to look at them from a different point of angle; which is not favourable to the victim to regain their confidence and motivation. On the other hand, family and social critics on the victim, force these victims to figure out a way back to the hands of exploitations again. They are seeking belongingness. They are choosing between two bad living environments.

  1. Unexpected Unacceptable Living Environment - A society of good people (family, friends & aquiantances), who criticize these victims for the mistake of bad people who are anti-social.

  2. Expected Unacceptable Living Environment - A society of bad people (anti-social rackets, mafias etc). where these victims will be re-exploited.

Who are to be blamed, if those victims are going back to the same life again ignoring once other people risked their own lives to get these victims rescued.

Is there a one-shot solution for this problem?

A comprehensive rehabilitation system is an international concern. Many countries are currently experimenting on this subject in different ways. Multiple problems are to be resolved in order to find such a comprehensive rehab.

For victims, a new vision and a direction to life are required after they are rescued. A new society, a new set of lifestyle, and income means are to be considered. For children and youngsters, its about continued education and for the adults its about their socially inhabitable environment. There are a lot to be worked on.

Concluding, ETC further resolved that there will be a team of psychologists, who specialize in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder experienced with the cases of Human Trafficking, assembled for brainstorming sections immediately at the Council. National and International agencies and organizations who wish to work with ETC on this subject, are requested to submit their case files immediately.
