Defense Manufacturing - India opens Industrial Gate to Sweden Companies through renewed FDI policies

Updated: May 16

Managing Director Mohamed Amjad Padiyath and Senior Director DR. Sari Changaramkumarath call for serial meetings with Indian Defence Manufacturers and Start-Ups who specialised in the segment. Assembles Financial Analysts Globally to channel investments that favor Indian companies to compete for International Buyers Club.

India has been experiencing a sudden surge in defense manufacturing recently for the liberalized policies on Foreign Direct Investments in the segment.

Even though a number of start-up companies in India's economic ecosystem show a great interest in Defence Manufacturing, International Giants are also taking advantage of the renewed policies in India.

Honorable Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh takes a great leap for Swedish OEM segment companies to enter into India, as wholly-owned operational or through Joint Venture collaborations.

The experimental policies and international industrial collaborations in India are analyzed from an experimental point of angle since such policies are new to Indian industrialists and executive bureaucracy.

Economic Transformation Council has taken broad decisions to have serial discussions with Indian manufacturers and start-ups in the segment. The council gives utmost importance to channeling International and national investments to the Defence Manufacturing Segments in India.

The companies who are specialized in industrial defence manufacturing will be shortlisted and a separate list of Investors who are interested in the prospective companies will be introduced, through a specialised committee of the Economic Transformation Council.

"Defense manufacturing is one of the multi-billion dollar industries globally. For basic weapons and ammunitions alone, most of the governments have to burn hectic sums of money every day, to keep army and law enforcement officials trained.

Policies in India that addressed the regulatory principles to keep foreign companies away from the bay have been taken down, for a little longer now. While foreign companies root their manufacturing power in India, domestic companies also should perform well in their standards and principles of both R&D and manufacturing channels. They are to compete with, what is called 'World Class' for top-notch buyers.

When the global customers knock on the doors of the Indian Defence Manufacturing Club, We must ensure that there are Indian members in it too, who pay tax to the Indian Government alone.

Let's play healthy competition here, and the one who plays the best earns"

- DR. Sari Changaramkumarath

Director, Economic Transformation Council
